Description

Do you remember the song “Sing it Back” by Moloko, from 1999?

I often have a song running through my mind as I work on a painting, something that captures the mood. This was this theme tune which described a feeling turning back to what feels familiar… only I’d somewhat forgotten the lyrics and was sure it was “Swing it Back“!

The inspiration for this painting came from a magical moment at the end of a three hour forest immersion experience. As we were heading back to the car parks, I turned and saw a tunnel of trees framing a glow of green light.

I used to paint trees all the time, but I’d taken a long break. In this moment it felt like the trees were calling me back, searching me out, swinging me around.
