I have the great honour of making two large scale paintings to be exhibited at Zionskirche in Berlin for the period of Lent in 2027. (Wednesday, February 10 to Saturday, March 27).

The church has generously provided the space for this project but, like many historic community spaces, does not have the funds to commission the work itself. Can you help me to realise this dream?

Developing ideas for Maria in the studio in Berlin.

A bit about me…

Having left my studio in southern France for Berlin in November 2016, I’ve spent the last decade retraining, honing my skills and gradually shifting from painting rural tree-scapes towards the complex matter of portraying human emotion.

During that phase I often used my own image and experiences, these auto-ethnographic explorations have provided rich material for personal and technical growth.

It was a bold move to shift entirely away from a style which had supported me for a decade.

Diving into new territory, has been a daily tightrope walk between the skill set I want to get to and the security I left behind.

The only way to get to there was via training, play, experimentation and practice, practice, practice.

The opportunity at Zionskirche encourages me to step out of the shadows and test my skills on a very ambitious scale in a relatively short space of time, but hey, one thing that has remained a constant over the years is that I like a challenge!
